We are a friendly and active scuba diving training club based at the Knowsley Leisure & Culture Park (KLC), Longview Drive, L36 6EG. We are BSAC Branch 2595.

As a BSAC accredited Diver Training club that is family focused we operate to very high standards and follow the BSAC training syllabus. Diver training begins in the Pool at Knowsley Leisure and Culture Centre and progresses to open water training at local inland dive sites. Every dive is planned to cater for divers with different skill and experience levels by our Dive Managers.

Through the pursuit of excellence in diving training contribute towards safer diving practice and thereby assist in the proliferation of sport diving worldwide’

We are passionate about our diving and organise dives all year round for divers of all experience levels down to depths of 50 metres.

 

WAPSAC - Aims/Objectives

➢ To promote underwater exploration and discovery

➢ To promote and support underwater science and sport

➢ To work with other organisations of similar interests

➢ To share knowledge and experience with other organisations and the general public

➢ To encourage and support all forms of underwater diving activities as appropriate

➢ To provide the highest possible standard of diving and snorkel training to all suitable students

➢ To provide a range of non-diving activities which enable family and friends and the general public to support the sport of scuba diving

➢ To protect the marine environment and ecology whenever possible including harm reduction from plastic waste

 

Diving is an all year-round sport at WAPSAC, both in the UK and abroad. We always strive to create diving opportunities no matter what the weather to help maintain in water fitness and skill levels. Local dives are mainly in the Northwest and North Wales. We have regular trips around the UK taking in places like Anglesey, St Abbs, Largs, Capernwray, Oban, Chirk Caverns, the Cumbrian Lakes and the Isle of Man.

We also travel abroad at least once per year to destinations organised by members. In recent years we have undertaken diving trips to Sri Lanka, Malta, Cyprus and Aqaba in the Red Sea.

The club has its own 6.5m RIB for diving excursions and a six seat minibus for towing and group diving activities

 

Club night is every Wednesday evening from 21.00hrs at Knowsley Leisure & Culture Park for pool training, swimming and equipment checks followed by a social get together at the Watch Maker Wetherspoon, 60-62 Eccleston Street, Prescot, L34 5QL from 22.20hrs.

 

As a club, we hold regular social and fundraising events that encourage involvement from diving members, their families and friends. This includes BBQ’s, an annual Christmas meal, sponsored activities and other attractions both local and as part of weekends away. We  actively participate in Beach Cleans and underwater activities aimed at improving the marine environment.

WAPSAC is dedicated to the growth of our sport and if you are interested in learning to dive but aren’t 100% sure, why not have a ‘Try Dive’. You must be at least 14 years of age and reasonably fit. A ‘Try Dive’ is a safe and controlled introduction to scuba diving with one of our club instructors in the swimming pool.
